Ermine Ameraucana chickens are a fascinating project breed known for their striking white and black plumage pattern reminiscent of a Dalmatian. These birds not only stand out visually but also lay blue eggs.

The color genetics behind the beautiful coloration of the ermine Ameraucana are based on Dominant White - a unique genetic twist. The ermine color in these birds is a result of two co-dominant genes: dominant white and black. The dominant white gene has pigment holes that allow the black to seep through, creating the appearance of black polka dots on a white base.

My birds are from eggs I hatched from Leigh Schilling Edward’s. I breed to the proposed SOP for the Ermine Ameraucana and am on the Ermine Ameraucan breeders list for Washington State.
